Our missions

LNCR’s main mission, with which it has been entrusted by the French Agriculture Ministry, is to ensure health control of breeding animals in the animal artificial insemination and embryo transfer sectors. This mission is based on the regulatory requirements defined by Ministerial Orders relating to public artificial mating and embryo transfer operations for the bovine, porcine, ovine and caprine species. LNCR is thus entrusted with overall health control of breeding animals, and stores all breeding stock health status records in the French National Breeding Stock Health Database, which it is in sole charge of running. These regulatory requirements are frequently supplemented by additional controls in order to strengthen the level of the health guarantees that apply to live breeding animals and their genetic material (semen or embryos), especially when some third countries formulate specific requests that are prerequisite conditions to the opening up of international markets.

To meet the goal assigned by its partners, livestock breeders as well as livestock and artificial insemination cooperatives, LNCR provides the highest-quality control protocols, enabling the sector to manage the health risks that it faces, both now and in the future.
